This issue focuses on current thoughts on the uses of information systems. But Études de Communication gives a broader definition to this term considering it more as the “life surrounding information.” In fact, professional activity has a more or less significant relationship with information and the systems that provide access to information or make it available and usable (tools, shared work spaces, collective production spaces . . .). We will consider the structures each uses to organize, obtain, produce, and manage the information needed to work with the assistance of existing tools and systems or by creating new ones. In this way, one is constantly adapting existing tools to one’s need or picturing intended uses. This issue is generally interested in the actors dealing with personal or collective writing, reading, or communication systems.
